Illinois Boat Number Display Laws

Illinois boat registration numbers must be displayed correctly on your vessel so they are easy to read and properly spaced. Use the guide below, then design your boat number decals below.

Illinois Display Requirements

Illinois requires registration numbers to be shown on both sides of the bow of the boat. The numbers must be clearly visible, read from left to right on one line, and use plain block characters at least 3 inches high. The decal should be placed after a space at the end of the registration number on each side.
